Statement Regarding the Investigation of Safeguarding Concerns Related to Mike Pilavachi
29th April 2023
Many of us are aware of the ongoing investigation into allegations of safeguarding concerns involving Mike Pilavachi, co-leader of the Soul Survivor festivals and Soul Survivor Watford church.
As a church, our youth have attended the conference on numerous occasions and a former Soul Survivor leader has served with us as a curate in training.
We want to be very clear that our concern is for all those impacted by this situation, particularly for any potential victims of wrongdoing and for those who may have experienced distress as a result.
We do not make any assumptions of guilt, but we do acknowledge the seriousness of the investigation.
We stand with the potential victims of wrongdoing and our thoughts, prayers and support are with those who are struggling as this investigation unfolds.
At the same time, we pray for the church and its members.
We recognise the very challenging dissonance many will be feeling - which we ourselves echo - between the work that has been enabled by these ministries and the safeguarding concerns that have clearly been raised. Our priority is the mental health and wellbeing of those who need our support.
For those who may be struggling with difficult emotions or concerns about festivals, the church and its associated ministries, we encourage you to seek out Safe Spaces to share and talk.
